How to Host a Freezer Meal Prep Night

How to Host a Freezer Meal Prep Night

You hear all about different meal planning tips, but making several different recipes to freeze can take an entire afternoon and hours of planning. The easiest way that I have found is to host a freezer meal night. This is how I did it:

1. I sent a text to five other women to see if they wanted in and what dates worked for them. I needed to know the exact number of women that would be participating, because that influences how the night works.

2. Four other ladies could participate, so we set a night and I gave instructions. I told each of them to bring ingredients to make one recipe five times. This is so that each person would be able to bring one of each meal home. I said that I would supply the kitchen gadgets and freezer bags. I sent out a few recipes that I have done previously as a freezer meal example. Then I told them that I would be making chicken fajitas (that way there weren’t any doubles). The other ladies texted me to let me know what they would also be making: quinoa tacos, vegetarian chili, cranberry balsamic chicken , and spinach & chickpea curry were the other items.

3. Grocery shopping. I just went to Aldi, and I spent $33 to for the ingredients. (which felt SO good, because that means that we just spent $33 on five dinners)

4. On the day of, I actually prepped my meals before everyone came so that I could help people with theirs and help with finding things in my kitchen. This was also the beginning of November, so I made some hot apple cider (with the option of adding a shot of brandy).

5. That night everyone came with their bags of groceries and each made their recipe five times. They marked the freezer bags prior to pouring everything in. The night went surprisingly fast. We had thirty freezer meals done in a little less than an hour and a half. Afterwards we all sipped cider and chatting, feeling very proud of ourselves. Then at the end of the night, each gal got to take home five different meals and stash them away in her freezer for when her family is ready to eat it. All of the meals we made were ones that you put in the refrigerator to thaw the night before you plan to eat it, and then put in the crockpot the morning of.

It was SO easy! We all decided that this needs to be something we do every few months when we need to stock up on freezer meals again.
