8 Easy Ways to Save Money
The subtitle should be “every little counts.” A lot of these may be review for you, but it helps to have these things on your mind as you go about your day.
- Sell clothes at Plato’s Closet (or a consignment shop) and extra books at Half Price Books. I am always a little disappointed with how much I make at these stores, but it’s something and it gets rid of extra things around the house.
- Turn down/up thermostat one or two degrees (depending on the season). Bundle up a little more in the winter and turn it down.
- Out with friends? Get one drink instead of two or more.
- Cancel subscriptions! At one point I had subscribed to DateBox, the Book of the Month Club, Stitchfix, and two magazines. While I absolutely adored all of the “clubs” they were sucking my money away and causing me to spend more money than I would normally have (especially stitchfix). I love the ideas behind these clubs, but the monthly cost to be apart of them really adds up over time.
- Have a freezer meal prep night with friends. See how I did it here.
- Buy used from Facebook market groups, thrift stores, or Craigslist.
- Make your own cleaning supplies (vinegar and the magic eraser go a long way).
- Cut cable! We don’t own a TV or have a cable subscription, and it has been awesome. We use Netflix for the days that we want to veg out and watch shows.
