Weekend in San Francisco
Hello friends!
I just wrote a blog post titled How to Plan a Girl’s Trip (& still be friends afterwards!).  I thought that I would go ahead and share the trip that inspired that post.
I recently went to San Fransisco with three of my lovely girl friends to celebrate our dear Hazel’s upcoming wedding. We chose San Fransisco because one of the other bridesmaids had just moved there, and we all wanted to visit. Plus Minnesota’s winter was going on forever, and we needed a summery break.
What We Did:
- Sonoma Wine Country We didn’t have a rental car, so we ended up just taking Lyfts or Ubers everywhere. It ended up being ~$130 round trip to Sonoma from San Fran, which we split between the four of us. My favorite vineyard was Viansa. It has stunning views and delicious wine. Their tastings are $15-$20, but they ended up waiving the tasting fee for us because one of our girls signed up for their quarterly wine club while we were there. After the tasting, we split two bottles of wine and bought a cheese and cracker tray. We spent a few hours just enjoying the sunshine, views, and drinks. Best day ever.
- Golden Gate Bridge We crossed over it a few different times. The first time we crossed it was on our way to Sonoma. Our Lyft driver was excellent, and he pulled off after the bridge and drove up a winding road to the top of a hill to show us his favorite views of the bridge.
- Delores Park One of our friends told us that we NEEDED to go to Delores Park on Sunday afternoon. So we walked over to Delores Park, but on the way we stopped and picked up some cheese, crackers, fruit, chips, and wine at a nearby bodega. Then we laid out our blankets on the hill and spent a whole afternoon laying out, talking, and relaxing. It seemed as though hundreds of people all came to Delores to do the same thing, and it felt like the city was having a party. Everyone was playing music, picnicking, drinking, playing frisbee, etc. It felt like a scene out of a movie. The park itself is great and has beautiful views of the city.
Where We Stayed: There are SO many great places around San Fran. We stayed at this airbnb, which was expensive, but conveniently located. It was important that we were able to walk around the neighborhood for drinks and food since we didn’t have a car.
We found this book on a shelf at our Airbnb, so while we were driving or walking places I would read excerpts to the others. I highly recommend it. 🙂
What We Ate (& Drank):
- Foreign Cinema Restaurant— Delicious food, a “splurge” place
- Dynamo Donuts and Coffee— Cutest little walk-up in the Mission District. It was a few blocks away from our Airbnb, so we got breakfast here one morning.
- Smuggler’s Cove— Hands-down the coolest themed bar I have ever been to. The bar staff was awesome and the drinks were great. If Disney World had a tiki bar, this would be it.
- HITW– Another great little walk-up coffee shop. Not my favorite coffee, but it was perfect for that afternoon. We grabbed some coffee and walked around the downtown area. There was a little french cafe nearby where we bought macarons too.
- The Spice Jar— Decently priced, good Asian-fusion food. This place was one of my favorites from the trip.
- Buttermilk Southern Kitchen— They have a nice patio, and we loved their brunch! It looked like they had a top-notch lunch/dinner menu as well.
- Trick Dog— Another fantastic bar. We all split several of their drinks because we wanted to try everything– and everything was exceptional. Plus the menus were airport themed (I should have stolen a menu for my pilot brother).
- Sightglass Coffee— much, much better coffee.
- The Little Chihuahua—Â Amazing amazing Mexican food
What We Listened To:Â
I may be making a controversial statement… but I have decided that San Fransisco is my favorite city in California (so far). I loved the restaurants, the history, and the feel of the city. The character of the buildings were captivating. The people that we met were friendly and cool.
What city in California should we visit next?
