a Weekend in LA on a Budget

a Weekend in LA on a Budget

I could do a whole series of posts on this topic, but I went to LA just for a weekend, so I’ll do a “short weekend version” of this.

Where we stayed

Whenever Collin and I go on trips, we always scope out Airbnb first. Ideally we book a place that is centrally located to where we want to spend time and a place that is considered an entire place, rather than just a room in a shared house or apartment. I like the privacy of having an entire place to myself, but we have also stayed in private rooms within a shared home and had a great experience.

This is the place that we stayed in LA, but there were lots like it that were also decently-priced.

Food

We are pretty easy to please when it comes to food on vacations. We’ll splurge for a few meals, but we’ll try to keep the rest pretty cheap. On longer vacations we will even try to go to a grocery store for breakfast or lunches, but since we were only in LA for three days, we did not. We went to Blue Bottle and Black Top for breakfast. Blue Bottle had the best waffles and coffee, and Black Top had amazing avocado toast (it’s all the rage right now, so that’s what I had to order). Other great and well-priced food places: Wahoo’s Fish Tacos at Manhattan Beach (best tacos ever), Sauasal in El Segundo, or Zankou’s Chicken. We went to a restaurant called “Salt Air” in Venice Beach that was very expensive, but it was our one splurge restaurant on this trip.

Places we went

Manhattan Beach (my favorite), Venice Beach (fun to walk around), the Griffith Observatory and Hollywood sign, the Arts District, and El Segundo beach.
